The large luxury South Korean SUV gets some minor updates for 2022 and the option of a two-seat experience in the second row.
- 2022 Genesis GV80 pricing and specifications
- Updates across the range, new optional features
- New luxury six-seater available
- Prices start from $92,000 before on-road costs
Details of the 2022 Genesis GV80 large luxury SUV have been revealed for Australia, which includes a new luxury six-seat option for the first time.
The second most popular Genesis model for 2021 (behind the smaller GV70 mid-sized SUV) has had its first mild update since going on sale in Australia in late 2020.
Pricing has gone up across the range for the reigining 2021 Drive Car of the Year winner for Large Luxury SUVs GV80, but specifications have also been adjusted.
The 2022 Genesis GV80 now gains 380mm four-piston monoblock front brake calipers (previously exclusive to the 3.5T AWD), intelligent speed limit assistance and Recirculation Plus mode in the climate control menu.
The biggest and most expensive offering from Hyundai’s luxury arm will retain the same combination of petrol and diesel engines, in rear- or all-wheel-drive layouts.
Four variants of the GV80 remain on offer, separated by their different engines and drivetrain combinations. While these grades previously had a single Luxury Pack option, three of them now also offer the more expensive ‘6-Seat Luxury Package’ option.
The 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine (224kW/422Nm) is available with rear-wheel drive in the entry-level Genesis GV80, going up to all-wheel drive with the same engine and some additional inclusions.
From there, buyers can choose between larger turbocharged petrol and diesel engine options: a 3.0-litre inline-six diesel engine makes 204kW and 588Nm, while a twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre petrol V6 makes 279kW/530Nm. Both of these specifications are all-wheel drive, and have more in terms of standard features.
Opting for the $10,500 Luxury Pack gives you a wide range of safety, technology and convenience improvements, with elements such as soft-close doors, 12.3-inch TFT-LCD instrument cluster, quilted nappa leather, and upgraded headlights.
The new six-seat Luxury Pack adds a further $13,500 – in addition to the contents of the standard Luxury Package – and swaps the second row middle seat for a centre console, dual 9.2-inch entertainment screens, second-row wireless phone charging and additional ambient lighting.
