2018 Caterham Seven SuperSprint: Retro-themed 60th anniversary model debuts
Just 60 Caterham Seven SuperSprint models will be produced for the Seven’s 60th anniversary.
The SuperSprint is powered by a 660cc turbocharged three-cylinder from Suzuki. For the limited edition Seven, Caterham has tuned the kei car engine to deliver 71kW of power.
In addition to the standard five-speed manual transmission, there’s a limited-slip differential across the back, Bilstein shock absorbers, and cream coloured 14-inch steel wheels with Avon 155/65 ZT5 radial tyres.
Caterham says the the SuperSprint is capable of completing the 0-60mph (0-97km/h) dash in 6.9 seconds, and hitting a top speed of 160km/h.
In line with its retro theme, standard features for the SuperSprint include front disc and rear drum brakes, grey coloured chassis and suspension components, tan colour Scottish Muirhead quilted leather trim, a 12-inch wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel, Brooklands aero screens, and classic versions of the Seven’s bonnet and lights.
Other 1960s-inspired pieces include a new battery master cut-off switch, and the SuperSprint’s selection of racing liveries. Options include a lower floor, full windscreen, stainless steel rear wing guards, and a Mohair tonneau cover.
The SuperSprint is available in either single-seater or two-seat formats, both with standard four-point harnesses.
There are six unique paint schemes on offer, all named after famous race tracks: Aintree (dark green), Dijon (navy blue), Hockenheim (silver), Imola (red), Watkins Glen (white with Gulf racing stripes), and Zandvoort (light green).
