2024 BMW 4 Series coupe convertible and M4 caught on camera

The BMW 4 Series range is getting a mild tweak, but its most controversial design element looks like it is staying.

The mid-life update to the BMW 4 Series range is expected to bring a host of styling and technological changes to bring it in line with the updated BMW 3 Series launched last year.

The headlights now feature new ‘L-shaped’ LED running lamps across all model variants, including the M4.

However, the most controversial element of the BMW 4 Series styling, the giant twin-nostril fascia – dubbed the “coffin grille” – looks set to remain.

Inside the cabin, mid-life update for the 4 Series is set to receive BMW’s latest dashboard design, which has already made its debut in the 2- and 3 Series models.

This integrates two separate LCD screens (14.9-inch in the centre and 12.3-inch for the driver) under a single glass panel so they appear as one large display.

The BMW 8.5 interface offers drivers easy access to various functions and information while simplified controls and a new switch-style gear selector will also be incorporated on all models except the M4 coupe and convertibles, which will retain the existing M-specific joystick.

Other interior changes are expected to follow the 3 Series, by incorporating the climate control functions within the larger 14.9-inch display.
