2022 Haval H6 earns five-star ANCAP safety rating
The Chinese-built SUV performed well in all areas of testing, however had marks deducted for shortcomings in chest and foot protection.
The 2022 Haval H6 – Chinese brand Great Wall Motors’ latest mid-size SUV – has been awarded top marks for safety by the Australian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP), Australia’s peak safety testing body.
Based on a wide range of crash tests and evaluation of in-built active safety features, the independent organisation allocates an aggregated safety score out of five for vehicles offered on the local market.
According to ANCAP the Chinese-built
SUV performed sufficiently across all areas of the testing, including occupant protection and collision avoidance. However, chest protection was rated as ‘marginal’. Points were also deducted due to the driver’s footwell showing signs of structural compromise during the frontal offset crash test.
“This is an impressive achievement by GWM Haval …
This is GWM’s first new Haval SUV model to the Australasian market for a number of years,” said ANCAP Chief Executive Officer, Carla Hoorweg.“Delivering a 5 star vehicle to the market, against ANCAP’s latest 2022 protocols, demonstrates the brand has kept pace with the latest ANCAP safety standards and consumer safety expectations.”
The safety rating applies to all petrol-powered variants of the 2022 Haval H6, however will not carry over to a plug-in hybrid variant set for launch within the coming weeks
