2022 Genesis G80 price and specs: Sport variants added, prices up
Genesis has updated its largest sedan in Australia with new sport-oriented option packs, plus new features – albeit for a higher price.
- 2022 Genesis G80 pricing and specifications
- Sport and Sport Line packages now available
- Traffic sign recognition, extra USB port added across range
- Revised Luxury Package contents
- Priced from $86,000 before on-road costs, up $1100 to $2100
The 2022 Genesis G80 luxury sedan range has been expanded for the new year, adding Sport or Sport Line packages for both variants – plus new or revised features, but higher prices to match.
Headlining the updates is the availability of Sport and Sport Line packages – expected to account for 40 per cent of G80 sales – adding sporty interior, exterior and chassis upgrades which serve as the Genesis brand’s equivalent to BMW’s M Sport, Mercedes-Benz’s AMG Line or Audi’s S Line.
Both are priced from $6000 – across the G80 2.5T RWD’s Sport Line pack, and the G80 3.5T AWD’s Sport package – but each variant adds different features when its respective option box is ticked.
Both score Sport exterior and interior styling, unique wheels and standard-fit adaptive suspension, but the 3.5T AWD’s Sport package goes further with rear-wheel steering, Sport+ and launch control modes, and active noise cancellation.
Meanwhile, the entire range gains traffic sign recognition and a second rear USB charging port for 2022, while the 2.5T RWD picks up a new set of 19-inch wheels. Prices are up by $1100 for the 2.5T RWD, or $2100 for the 3.5T AWD.
The Luxury Package now includes ‘Ergo Motion’ front seats, and a second-row wireless phone charger (albeit at the expense of one rear USB port). No changes have been made to the Luxury Package’s pricing.
Powering the entry-level 2.5T RWD is a 224kW/422Nm 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, sending drive to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The 3.5T AWD upgrades to a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged petrol V6, which sends 279kW and 530Nm to all four wheels through a similar eight-speed automatic transmission.
Pricing and standard equipment lists for all Genesis G80 variants are included towards the bottom of this story.
The revised 2022 Genesis G80 2.5T RWD is on sale now, with first deliveries of the 2022 Genesis G80 3.5T AWD variant to commence next month. The range will be bolstered with a new Electrified G80 electric model in the second quarter of this year (April to June).
