2022 Kia Sportage SX arrives in Australia, SX+ due in January

The mid-spec Kia Sportage SX and SX+ models will arrive in Australia over the coming days and weeks, completing the local range by the end of January.

The 2022 Kia Sportage SX has arrived in Australia – ahead of first showroom arrivals in the coming days – ahead of the final member of the Sportage range, the SX+, due early next year.

Following the base Sportage S and flagship GT-Line variants launched in November, the second-from-base SX is set to arrive in Kia dealers imminently, priced from $37,490 to $45,490 drive-away with a choice of 2.0-litre petrol (manual or automatic) or 2.0-litre turbo-diesel (auto) power.

It will be followed in January 2022 by the higher-spec SX+, sitting below the range-topping GT-Line with list prices between $44,490 and $49,990 drive-away.

Amid the ongoing semiconductor shortage, Kia Australia says it is experiencing a “steady supply” of GT-Line variants, and has been guaranteed an allocation of “around” 1000 Sportage examples per month – equating to 12,000 vehicles annually which, given 13,645 previous-generation Sportages were sold in 2019, will likely be exceeded quickly by customer demand.

Based on the entry-level S, the Sportage SX adds features including 18-inch alloy wheels, an enlarged 12.3-inch central touchscreen and dual-zone climate control, with the SX+ going one step further by adding 19-inch wheels, keyless entry and start, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, and an eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
