2022 Tesla Model 3 price and specs

The Tesla Model 3 has undergone another update, bringing larger batteries offering boosts in driving range.

  • 2022 Tesla Model 3 pricing and specifications
  • Larger batteries deliver 34km to 43km range increases
  • Entry model half a second slower from 0-100km/h
  • Priced from $59,900 before on-road costs

Tesla has treated its cheapest electric car range to a battery update, with the revised 2022 Tesla Model 3 on sale now through the American brand’s website.

As reported in our full story here, the Chinese-made Model 3 has gained larger battery packs across all models – believed to measure 62kWh in entry-level models, or 82kWh in Long Range and Performance variants – for no additional cost, with the cheapest version of Tesla’s smallest electric car still opening from $59,900 before on-road costs.

Driving range claims according to European WLTP testing procedures now come in at 491km in the entry-level 62kWh model (up from 448km), 614km in the 82kWh Long Range (up from 580km), and 567km in the flagship Performance (no change).

The entry-level model – now known simply as the ‘Model 3’, dropping the ‘Standard Range Plus’ title – has been hit with a performance cut, however, now covering the 0-100km/h sprint in 6.1 seconds (down from 5.6 seconds). Top speed remains at 225km/h, through its single rear-mounted electric motor.

The Long Range upgrades to dual-motor all-wheel drive, good for a 4.4-second 0-100km/h time and a 233km/h top speed. The range-topping Performance gains more powerful electric motors for a 3.3-second 0-100km/h time (excluding 30cm of drag strip rollout) and a 267km/h top speed.

Tesla doesn’t quote power or torque outputs, and the sole charging claim confirmed on the company’s website is that a 15-minute stint on a Supercharger will add 327km of claimed range.

Full standard equipment and price lists for all three variants can be found at the bottom of this story.
