Say hello to the fastest Mitsubishi Evo in the world!
If you’re a fan of JDM tuner cars, you’ve been under a rock for the past couple of years if you haven’t seen “that Evo with a turbo the size of a small country hanging out under the hood”.
That Evo was built by Extreme Tuners, a workshop in Greece. And that Evo has caused quite a stir in recent years.
For years, online forums were abuzz with people making wild accusations and allegations of cheating, faked sped-up videos, fake time slips and photoshopped results. The haters were out in force, until today… now they are nowhere to be seen.
Why? Well that’s because the Greek creation has broken its own world record… Again. And we have the video in this thread to prove it! (See the top of this article.)
Laying down a time of 7.884 @ 298.71km/h (185.54mph), on their “Low boost” setting of “only” 1400awhp, we have been told this is only the beginning. September, they promise to turn up the wick another 500hp…
Watching the video of the run, leaves us to wonder two things. 1) How the hell does the driver fit the car with balls that big? and 2) if it’s that sketchy down the track at low boost, what is it going to be like at full power!?
Spyros, owner of Extreme Tuners, has been feeding us videos for the past year, and they never disappoint.
Watching that Evo bouncing so far off the tachometer that it’s almost clocked its own dial… Screaming off its t*ts, making noises like a Hayabusa revving to 20,000rpm – it’s easy to understand why the haters out there think it seems all too much to be true.
Here’s what Spyros had to say about his recent achievement:
“Resetting our world record again! The new world record 4g63 evo 6/7/8/9 7.884 @ 298.71kmh (185.54mph) The run made on 1400awhp (1700hp – 34psi) / 13400rpm @ 1784cc 4 cylinder 4g63.
“In September, a new world record will happen again, this time in more power (2150hp – 44psi).”
Let’s take a look inside the heart of this beast. Spyros was kind enough to send us a gallery of the build, which we include below:
Much of this build was created in-house, and we have some pictures showing even the turbo being custom-made, complete with a carbon-fibre compressor wheel.
The end result is what you see here, an absolute weapon of a car. Be sure to watch the video at the top of this post!
Boost graph showing peak boost at 9250 RPM!!
The evo runs a destroked 4G63 down to 1.8 litres.
