2018 Infiniti QX80 teased ahead of Dubai debut
The updated Infiniti QX80 has been teased via a series of photos ahead of its full debut at the Dubai motor show.
Based on the QX80 Monograph concept, which made its debut at this year’s New York motor show, the updated QX80 is reportedly based on the same platform as today’s SUV and also serves as the basis of the Nissan Patrol.
We’ll have to wait until November 14, Dubai time, to see how much the “new” QX80 differs from the current model, but we can see the revised four-wheel drive will sport a sleeker and much more attractive front end.
At the front, there are new headlight units, which have been moved up the redesigned front fascia. This means there’s no longer a huge step between the front wheel arches and the bonnet bulge.
Infiniti promises the updated QX80 will feature a “luxurious cabin and a hand-crafted interior”. We can see from the teaser image set that there will be new door trims featuring pleated leather, at least on some trim levels.
As is currently the case, the QX80 will probably find most favour in the Middle East and the USA, where the vehicle’s size and fuel economy are less of an issue.
So far this year, Infiniti has found 59 Australian buyers for the QX80, well behind the segment leading Mercedes-Benz GLS (781), not mention its less luxurious Nissan Patrol (711) sibling.
