2015-17 Mercedes-Benz GLE recalled for stalling fix

Mercedes-Benz has issued a recall for 931 examples of its GLE SUV sold between June 2015 and June 2017 over concerns the engine may stall at low speeds.

The manufacturer reports that the engine of affected models may turn off when braking at low speed – for example, when braking for a traffic light – or after an ECO start if the vehicle is “accelerated slowly under a high load”.

If the condition occurs, the vehicle will not restart automatically, and will have to be manually started. This poses a hazard to the driver and other road users.

Affected GLE models were sold from 30 June 2015 through 29 June 2017. The VIN list for these SUVs can be viewed here.

Owners of the recalled vehicles are advised to contact their local Mercedes-Benz dealer to arrange the inspection and repair of their vehicle.
