Lexus LX450d diesel launches in India, still off the cards for Australia
Availability of the diesel-powered Lexus LX450d has expanded to the Indian market this week, but, despite being offered in New Zealand, it remains off the cars for Australia.
Powered by the same 200kW/650Nm 4.5-litre twin-turbo V8 diesel engine offered in the related Toyota Landcruiser 200 Series, the 2.5+ tonne LX450d is capable of accelerating from 0-100km/h in a respectable 8.6 seconds, on its way to a top whack of 210km/h.
In India, it will be offered alongside the V8 petrol-powered LX570, along with the familiar RX450h SUV, and the ES300h sedan.
Just across the Tasman from Australia, the LX450d is already on sale in New Zealand, as is the LX570 offered locally, priced from NZ$159,900 ($147,183).
Despite its ‘entry-level’ status, that makes it comparatively more expensive than the decked out LX570 offered here, which is priced from $143,030 before on-road costs.
However, unfortunately for Australian buyers, Lexus’s local arm hasn’t changed its decision to not offer the diesel LX in Australia, sticking with the 270kW/530Nm LX570.
