2023 Subaru Forester price and specs: Orders re-open, prices rise by up to $2150
Subaru Forester orders have opened after a brief period of unavailability – but prices have risen by $1900 and $2150, with little to new features to compensate.
- 2023 Subaru Forester pricing and specification
- Auto-dimming rear-view mirror now on higher grades
- New blue colour for mid-spec Sport model
- Priced from $37,890 plus on-road costs, up $1900 to $2150
The 2023 Subaru Forester is now on sale in Australia, after the 2022 model sold out earlier this year – but prices have risen by at least $1900 across the range.
Due in Subaru showrooms between October and December 2022, the Model Year 2023 Forester adds an auto-dimming rear-view mirror to the 2.5i Sport, 2.5i-S and Hybrid S grades, plus a new Sapphire Blue Pearl colour replacing Dark Blue Pearl on the Sport grade.
However, the new mirror only accounts for $250 of the price rise on higher grades – with a further $1900 to $1950 added to each model’s list price due to “an increase in the costs associated with production and logistics”.
The price rises for the Subaru Forester – the first since the 2022 model launched about 10 months ago – follow similar hikes on other Subaru models, including $800 increases for the Outback, $1200 to $1300 for the Impreza and XV, and $1300 to $1400 for the BRZ.
Standard features are otherwise unchanged for the Model Year 2023 Forester, across the seven variants offered. A list of standard inclusions and additions by grade is included at the bottom of this story.
No changes have been made under the bonnet, where most variants retain a 136kW/239Nm 2.5-litre non-turbo flat four-cylinder engine, connected to a continuously-variable automatic transmission (CVT) and all-wheel drive.
Hybrid models use a 110kW/196Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and a 12.3kW electric motor, teamed with a 4.8Ah lithium-ion battery pack over the rear axle, a CVT, and all-wheel drive.
The 2023 Subaru Forester range is on sale now. The first cars are due in showrooms in the fourth quarter of 2022 (October to December).
