Alfa Romeo Giulia, Stelvio Quadrifoglio recalled for brake fault

Alfa Romeo’s high-performance Giulia sedan and Stelvio SUV have been recalled in Australia due to a fault with the electronic parking brake that could damage examples with carbon-ceramic brakes.

Alfa Romeo has recalled 27 examples of its 2017-2020 Giulia Quadrifoglio and 2018-2020 Stelvio Quadrifoglio, citing a fault with examples fitted with an optional high-performance brake package.

The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “Vehicles equipped with carbon ceramic-matrix brakes have an independent electronic parking brake with a roll away prevention feature that can put excessive pressure on the brake rotor in extreme circumstances.

“This could result in an unexpected reduction of braking performance.

“An unexpected reduction in braking performance may lead to an accident causing injury to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”
