2024 MG Cyberster electric sports car interior revealed ahead of Australian arrival

The electric roadster from China is set to make a splash when it arrives in Australia, and new images now show the interior of the MG Cyberster in greater detail than before.

Months after the 2024 MG Cyberster was revealed, fresh images of the roadster’s interior have now been published.

Posted to Chinese social-media websites including Autohome, the new photos show the driver-centric dashboard and centre console of the electric Cyberster – the first all-new MG sports car became a Chinese-owned brand – in greater detail than before.

In these images the Cyberster is fitted with a traditional steering wheel, rather than the aircraft or Formula One-style ‘yoke’ seen in spy photos and on the concept car – suggesting buyers may be able to choose which steering control style they prefer when ordering the vehicle.

The swept dashboard incorporates a grab handle for passengers – perhaps taking some inspiration from the two-door Jaguar F-Type – and an ultra-wide curved display made up of three digital screen.

The main gear selector buttons sit proudly on the upright section of the centre console, though the electric parking brake button appears to be mounted on the opposite side, closer to the driver’s door.

The sports seats are finished in a combination of leather and Alcantara, with the stitched leather appearing to extend to the dash and steering wheel.

On the steering wheel is a large red button that reads ‘Super Sport’, while behind are a set of paddles – likely for regenerative braking.

The radical design doesn’t stop with the yoke – the Cyberster will make it to production with Lamborghini-style scissor doors that open upwards, instead of out.

MG hasn’t confirmed specifications for the Australian market at this stage, but earlier leaked documents suggest buyers may get a choice of a single-motor version – with a 231kW electric motor at the rear axle – or a dual-motor variant producing a total of 400kW.

Reports suggest the quickest MG Cyberster could complete the 0-100km/h sprint in less than four seconds – putting it in the same realm as supercar royalty such as the Ferrari F40, Pagani Zonda, and the Mercedes SLR McLaren, as well as electric performance cars from Tesla, BMW and Kia.

While pricing is also yet to be announced, unconfirmed reports point to the Cyberster starting from £55,000 in the UK – the same price as a Mercedes-Benz EQA350 4Matic, which has a price tag just shy of $AU100,000 in Australia before on-road costs.

Meanwhile, the range-topping dual-motor Cyberster is said to be priced from £65,000 in the UK – or the same as the Lexus RZ450e, which starts from approximately $AU123,000 before on-road costs locally.

Australian arrival timing for the 2024 MG Cyberster isn’t known at this stage, however deliveries to Europe are expected in mid 2024.
