2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N clocks up 500 expressions of interest in Australia before price is known or car is unveiled
More than 500 customers in Australia have raised their hand for the Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric hot hatch – before the price is known or the car has been unveiled – ahead of showroom arrivals due next year.
An orderly queue is already forming for the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N electric hot hatch in Australia, months before the car is due to be unveiled – and long before anyone knows the price or has taken a test drive.
Hyundai Australia says more than 500 customers have lodged their expression of interest since the website portal for the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N went live two months ago.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is expected to be one of the fastest electric cars on sale in Australia when it arrives in local showrooms early next year.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is largely a mechanical twin to the Kia EV6 GT – which has zero to 100km/h performance of about three seconds in ‘launch’ mode – but is said to have more hardcore features such as extra cooling and bigger brakes to better handle high-speed track driving.
The South Korean car maker’s first electric hot hatch is expected to be unveiled globally by the end of this year.
Order books in Australia are not expected to formally open until price and specifications are released closer to the vehicle’s showroom arrival, due in the first few months of next year.
The price is yet to be announced, however given the price of its closest rival – the Kia EV6 GT (pictured above) – the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is expected to cost in excess of $100,000 in Australia.
As previously reported, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N has been caught on camera undergoing extensive testing in Europe, including on Germany’s Nurburgring race track.
Hyundai is yet to confirm the power outputs of the Ioniq 5 N – or battery capacity and maximum driving range – however executives have previously said it will be significantly quicker than the Hyundai i30 N hot hatch, and will be the fastest model to wear the Hyundai badge to date.
