2023 Ford Everest: Half a year’s worth of sales clocked up in two months

Demand for the new-generation Ford Everest is off the charts. Ford is holding more than half a year’s worth of orders before anyone has taken a test drive or sat in one in a showroom.

The 2023 Ford Everest four-wheel-drive is sold out until next year – on orders placed today – and Ford has already clocked up close to half a year’s worth of sales before the first example has rolled off a car carrier.

Ford Australia is holding more than 2500 orders for the new-generation 2023 Ford Everest four-wheel-drive, which amounts to half a year’s worth of sales based on data in the lead-up to the coronavirus pandemic.

This is despite the fact the order books have only been open officially since Ford Everest price and specs were announced two months ago.

Meanwhile, Ford dealers have advised the top-of-the-range Platinum V6 turbo diesel has exceeded their expectations, accounting for a large slice of initial demand.

The queue is getting so long, Ford Australia has taken the unprecedented step of apologising to customers ahead of time amid chronic delays for a car that no-one has yet test driven or sampled in a showroom in Australia.

“We’re working with our team to do everything possible to get as many Rangers, Ranger Raptors, and Everests as we can to customers as soon as we can,” said the Ford Australia statement (which also applied to Ford Ranger delays, reported in a separate story).

“Global semiconductor and COVID-related supply chain challenges, combined with very high demand for certain variants, mean some customers will unfortunately face extended waits.

“We want to be as transparent as possible and are currently predicting extended wait times for three variants in particular. The situation is changing regularly but at this stage:

  • Next-Gen Ranger Raptor: a vehicle ordered today could take approximately 9 months to arrive
  • Next-Gen Ranger Wildtrak 3.0L V6: a vehicle ordered today could take approximately 8 months to arrive
  • Next-Gen Everest Platinum: a vehicle ordered today could take approximately 7 months to arrive

However, Ford noted, “depending on the dealer, location and specifications, there is still some stock available, so we encourage customers to talk to their nearest Ford dealer.”
