2023 Bentley Continental GT Mulliner W12 revealed
The Bentley Continental GT has gained yet another variant, this time pairing the Speed’s 485kW W12 engine with a skew towards comfort and opulence.
Bentley has revealed a new range-topping version of its flagship two-door car, the 2023 Bentley Continental GT Mulliner W12.
Pitched as the flagship of the two-door Continental range, the new GT Mulliner W12 coupe is said to combine the performance of the existing Speed variant, comfort of last month’s Azure special edition, and the “artistic flair” of Bentley’s in-house Mulliner bespoke division.
The new Mulliner grade is powered by the Speed’s 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 engine, sending 485kW and 900Nm to all four wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Bentley claims a 0-100km/h sprint time of 3.6 seconds, towards a top speed of 335km/h – a tenth quicker to the 100km/h benchmark than the old Mulliner W12, thanks to an extra 18kW from the Speed’s version of the engine.
Chassis smarts keeping the car on the right path include three-chamber adaptive air suspension, three drive modes (Bentley, Comfort and Sport), an electronic limited-slip rear differential, and rear-wheel steering with up to four degrees of rotation.
There’s also a 48-volt anti-roll control system – which can apply up to 1300Nm in 0.3 seconds to counteract body roll in tight corners – and optional carbon-ceramic brakes.
The Mulliner differentiates itself from other Continental models through a unique 22-inch wheel design, new metallic matrix grille pattern, silver and black front fender vents, silver or black mirror caps, and a choice of black or chrome trim.
Inside, highlights include quilting across the leather seats, door trims and rear-seat panels (with accent and contrast stitching), indented or smooth hide roof lining, embroidered Mulliner logos on the seats, and new floor mats with piping and chrome Bentley ‘retention caps’.
Other upgrades include a diamond-milled finish for the centre console, Grand Black walnut veneer trim inlays, a Breitling clock, unique badging on the dashboard, and new instrument cluster graphics designed to make the digital dials look like “real metal”.
There’s also a set of illuminated door sill plates with Mulliner branding, and puddle light projection from the mirrors.
The 2023 Bentley Continental GT Mulliner W12 will make its public debut at this week’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Australian customers will be able to place an order starting next month, ahead of an estimated start of production in November, and first local deliveries due in February 2023.
