2021 Mazda BT-50 ute recalled with oil leak

An engine fault could cause oil to leak onto the road, according to the manufacturer.

Mazda Australia has recalled 14 examples of its 2021 Mazda BT-50 ute, citing a potential oil leak from the engine and transmission.

The affected vehicles are stamped Model Year 2021. It’s so far unclear if the mechanically-identical Isuzu D-Max will also be recalled.

The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “Due to a manufacturing issue, the transfer case blanking plug may not have been installed correctly during production … This may lead to an oil leak from the transmission.”

“An oil leak onto the road increases the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”
