Gallery: New Lamborghini Countach meets its predecessors

Lamborghini revived the iconic Countach name last year to a mixed reception. Now, the reborn supercar has hit the road in Europe – alongside the first and last examples of the original Countach lineage.

Italian exotic car maker Lamborghini revived its legendary Countach name last year, applying the iconic badge to a new circa-600kW, limited-edition hybrid supercar sharing its underpinnings with the ageing Aventador.

Shortly after the 2022 car’s public debut Marcello Gandini, the designer of the original (and revolutionary) Countach, criticised the new model and distanced himself from the project – but that didn’t stop all 112 examples of the supercar selling out, even before the car was formally unveiled.

Five months after the covers came off, Lamborghini has taken its new supercar onto public roads for the first time – and brought with it two of its forefathers: the first Countach vehicle ever produced, the LP400, and the final ‘original’ Countach examples ever made, a 25th Anniversary edition.
