Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 gets the Lego treatment
The 1:13 scale V8 joins Lego’s extensive car range.
The Shelby GT500 is one of the most powerful and expensive 2022 Ford Mustang variants ever built.
However, a lack of right-hand-drive availability – and the high cost of local conversion – mean you can’t currently buy one officially in Australia.
Toy company Lego has a solution – this 1:13 scale replica can’t be driven on the road no matter which side of the car its steering wheel resides, and is priced at just $79.99.
Designated item number #42138, the miniature pony car comprises 544 individual pieces and measures 27cm from nose to tail.
It is 8cm high at the tallest point and 12cm wide.
Two ‘pull-back’ motors are housed within the rear wheels, allowing clockwork-driven acceleration.
However, it’s unlikely to punch out the full 566kW/847Nm derived from the real Shelby’s supercharged 5.2-litre V8 petrol engine.
While the rear end looks good, some might argue the model’s nose isn’t as convincing as it could be.
The model joins Lego’s growing range of car kits, including the Lamborghini Sian, McLaren Senna, Ferrari 488, Land Rover Defender, Ford F-150 Raptor, and Bugatti Chiron, among others.
