2022 GWM Ute price and specs: Prices rise for third time in five months

Great Wall Motors Ute prices have risen by $1000 across the range – for the third time in five months – pushing all but the base 4×2 and 4×4 models above the $40,000 drive-away mark.

  • $1000 price increase across the range
  • Unchanged equipment levels for three-model range
  • Priced from $34,990 drive-away

Prices of the 2022 GWM Ute have increased for the third time in five months, with the Chinese brand’s new-generation ute now $3000 dearer than when it arrived in showrooms a year ago.

From the start of January, the GWM Ute range increased in cost by $1000 – “due to ongoing cost pressures along the supply chain,” says a GWM spokesperson – making it at least the third price rise in five months, following a $1000 increase last August, and further increases later in the year.

Prices for the 2022 range now start from $34,990 drive-away for the entry-level Cannon 4×2, increasing to $36,990 drive-away for the Cannon 4×4 – a variant which, just 12 months ago, cost $33,990 drive-away.

The mid-spec Cannon-L is priced from $40,490 drive-away – cresting the $40,000 drive-away mark for the first time – while the range-topping Cannon-X is priced from $43,490 drive-away.

No changes have been made to standard equipment levels for 2022. Full lists for each variant are included at the bottom of this story.

All models retain the 120kW/400Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine and eight-speed automatic transmission offered at launch.

GWM Haval Australia has also increased prices on its Haval H6 and Haval Jolion SUVs – despite the models being on sale for less than a year – following $1000 price rises late last year.
