2022 Ford Ranger: Another week, another drip-feed teaser video
The drip-feed media campaign for the 2022 Ford Ranger continues. In the latest instalment, there’s no new information but there are clearer images of camouflaged cars. Please, Ford, can we have a break until you’re ready to share some proper details?
Ford Australia has released another teaser video for the 2022 Ford Ranger ute with little information other than saying the company tests vehicles in hot, cold, and dusty conditions – the same torture tests adopted by most major car companies.
Ford has said this before. We contemplated not running this story but readers click on it, so here goes.
Meantime we will keep searching for a genuine scoop on the 2022 Ford Ranger.
The blurb from Ford said testing for the next-generation Ranger included about 10,000km of desert driving, the equivalent of 1,250,000km of customer driving, and the equivalent of 625,000km of rugged off-road driving at maximum load capacity.
Ford says its engineers also conducted thousands of hours of computer simulations – and thousands of real-world simulations in laboratories.
Given the 2022 Ford Ranger shares its DNA with the model that has been on sale since 2011, Ford should have all the gremlins sorted by now.
That said, we’re still curious about the dodgy fuel injector issues with the twin turbo 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel, and hope Ford has smoothed out the jerkiness of the 10-speed automatic.
If you look carefully, you’ll notice the cabin of the new model is the same size as today’s model – but the sheetmetal on the doors is new and the interior of top end models are expected to have large digital display screens.
