Lamorghini Urus teased ahead of December reveal

The upcoming Lamborghini Urus SUV has been teased this week in a video on social media.

Although the clip is short, we get a glimpse of the high-riding Bull romping in some sand dunes – complete with a Ford Raptor-style jump, no less.

The video – posted on Twitter – is called ‘Sabbia’, which is Italian for sand, and provides a fleeting glimpse at the drive-mode selector in the upcoming Lamborghini crossover. Along with Strada (road) and Sport (er, sport) there are options for Sabbia (sand), Terra (land) and Neve (snow).

Don’t expect to be seeing Sabbia or Neve popping up in a Huracan any time soon, though.

Eagle-eyed viewers will also notice what appears to be a rear-wheel steering system on the car. Around 10 seconds into the clip, the rear wheels appear to turn in the opposite direction to the fronts.

The recently-released Aventador S has a rear-wheel steering system, so it wouldn’t be surprising to the same technology applied to the upcoming SUV as well.

Unfortunately, the video doesn’t feature any engine noise – we’ll have to wait for that. We do know, however, the car will be powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 with around 485kW. A plug-in hybrid version will also be offered  later on, along with a variation of the twin-turbo mill.

Lamborghini is expecting to build around 1000 examples in the first year of production, with output to grow in 2019. The company has previously said it has the capacity for greater production numbers down the track, too, depending on demand.

The Urus will be fully unveiled on December 4, so stay tuned for more.
