Porsche Passport subscription service to be trialled in the USA

Porsche has launched a new subscription service in the USA, granting members on-demand access to a selection of models from the company’s sports and crossover car ranges.

Dubbed Porsche Passport, the new service is a partnership between Porsche Cars North America and Clutch Technologies, and begins operation in November 2017.

With both companies based in Atlanta, Georgia, the subscription service will be trialled in the Atlanta metro region, with the “possibility of future market expansion [to] be determined after the pilot program”.

There are two membership tiers available. The Launch level, which costs US$2000 ($2570) per month, provides on-demand access to eight variants, including the 718 Boxster, 718 Cayman S, Macan S and Cayenne.

For those willing to stump up US$3000 every month, the Accelerate level features 22 vehicles on demand, adding the 911 Carrera S, Panamera 4S, Macan GTS and Cayenne S E-Hybrid to the roster of available cars.

Vehicle bookings and exchanges are managed through a smartphone app, and a “white-glove vehicle delivery” service is promised to members.

As part of the subscription, all vehicle tax, registration, insurance and maintenance costs are taken care of. Prospective members will need to pay a US$500 ($643) one-off activation fee, and membership is subject to background and credit checks.
