Mitsubishi ASX, Lancer, Outlander recalled for stalling fix
Mitsubishi has issued a recall for 48,209 vehicles across its ASX, Lancer and Outlander range from various years, over concerns the vehicles could stall while driving.
The Japanese manufacturer reports affected vehicles may be fitted with a faulty power relay that generates excessive heat, resulting in relay failure.
Should the condition occur, the engine may stall when driving, fail to restart, or failsafe protection may be activated – leading to a loss of engine power. All instances pose a hazard to the driver and other road users, increasing the likelihood of an accident.
Affected years by model line are as follows:
ASX (XB) – MY2015-15.5
Lancer (CJ, CF) – MY15-16
Outlander (ZJ, ZK) – MY14, MY16-17
Sale dates for these models fall between 28 December 2014 and 6 February 2017. The VIN list for the recalled vehicles can be viewed here.
Owners of the affected Mitsubishis will be notified by the company’s local arm when parts become available, and will be advised to present their vehicle to their local dealer to have the power relay replaced.
