2018 Jeep Cherokee spied: Goodbye quirky headlights
The facelifted Jeep Cherokee has been spied during testing, revealing a new, cleaner nose to replace the polarising current split-headlight design.
Although much of the car is covered, it’s clear the updated car will have a face far more similar to that of the Grand Cherokee and Compass.
That means no more two-tier lighting, and no more awkward beaky grille. In their place are single-piece lamps with hockey-stick LED running lights, and a more upright grille sitting above a slim lower air intake.
Reworked snout aside, the facelifted car is likely to closely mirror the look of the current model. The spy shots show largely unchanged flanks and a very similar rear end, albeit one featuring new brake lights in keeping with the theme set by the Compass.
The number plate is now mounted on the tailgate, too, rather than the bumper. Interior changes are equally minor.
When it arrives, the refreshed Cherokee is expected to offer the nine-speed automatic gearbox found in the Renegade and Compass, and a fresh 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Expect more safety gear, too.
The refreshed Cherokee is expected to land later this year.
