2018 Alpina B5 BiTurbo pricing and specs

Australian pricing and specifications for the new Alpina B5 BiTurbo have been announced, with the luxury super sedan to kick off at $239,900 before on-road costs.

Based on the new-generation ‘F30’ BMW 5 Series, the Alpina B5 BiTurbo is the quickest-accelerating vehicle that the company has ever built – managing the 0-100km/h sprint in just 3.5 seconds.

Helping achieve that claim is a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 with 447kW of power and a whopping 800Nm of torque, sending drive to all four wheels via an eight-speed ZF sports automatic transmission.

In addition to the rapid acceleration, Alpina claims the B5 will spin all the way to a top speed of 330km/h, making it one of the fastest four-door performance vehicles currently on sale.

Standard equipment includes 20-inch Alpina Classic alloy wheels, nappa leather trim, four-zone climate control, and Comfort Seats. There’s also a digital driver’s display, rear-wheel steering, and a stainless steel exhaust system with quad tailpipes.

There’s also an array of options so customers can tailor their B5 to their desired specification, including a Lavalina leather interior ($12,253-$22,244), wireless Apple CarPlay ($395), massaging function for the front seats ($1866), remote parking function ($943), a Bowers & Wilkins sound system ($8766) and a rear seat entertainment system ($4336).

Alpina now has four nameplates in its Australian line-up, including the B3 S (sedan and Touring), B4 S (coupe and cabriolet), B7, and now the B5. It appears for now the B5 will be sedan only, though there is a Touring wagon offered overseas.
