2016-17 Mercedes-Benz E-Class recalled for seatbelt fix

Mercedes-Benz Australia has issued a recall notice for 283 examples of its 2016 and 2017 E-Class range for a potential fault in the right-rear seatbelt tensioner squib.

According to the company, the seat belt tensioner on the driver-side rear seat might not deploy in an accident, increasing the risk of injury.

The recall affects 283 cars sold between September 30, 2016 and January 30, 2017. A list of VIN numbers is available here.

Owners of the affected vehicles have been asked to contact their nearest Mercedes-Benz dealership, where the car will be repaired at no cost.

This is the second recall for Mercedes-Benz this month. The A, B and CLA-Class were recalled over fears a faulty starter motor could cause a fire.
