2016 Mercedes-Benz A-Class, B-Class, CLA, GLA recalled for airbag fix

Mercedes-Benz has issued a recall for around 200 vehicles across its A-Class, B-Class, CLA and GLA lines sold between 1 October 2016 through 1 December 2016 over concerns the front passenger airbag may not deploy “as designed”.

The German marque reports that the front passenger-side airbag in affected vehicle may not meet specifications, and therefore may not deploy correctly in the event of an accident. If the condition occurs this could increase the risk of injury to the vehicle’s occupants.

The issue is understood to have no connection with the global Takata airbag recall.

Owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted by Mercedes-Benz Australia via mail, and will be requested to contact their local dealer to arrange the replacement of the front passenger airbag.
