Citroen Dispatch XL unveiled
We’re still a while from seeing the Citroen Dispatch van range in Australia, but the French brand’s mid-size van now has a big, big version.
The new Citroen Dispatch range is made up of three versions, with the XL measuring 5309mm long, presenting a fair stretch over the middle-ground M model (4959mm) and the smallest version, the XS (4609mm).
It sits on the longest wheelbase – 3275mm – and has a load space measuring 2862mm to the bulkhead, though longer items up to 4024mm can be loaded through a port-hole in the base of the bulkhead that extends under the passenger seat.
The Dispatch XL has a load volume of 6.1 cubic metres to the bulkhead or 6.6m3 including the porthole, and the rear barn doors can be opened up to 250 degrees.
The payload is between 1247 and 1447 kilograms, with three gross weight options – 2830kg, 3000kg or 3100kg. Towing is rated at 2500kg braked.
The model range is powered by a choice of a few different engines: there’s a 70kW 1.6-litre turbo diesel with a five-speed manual or six-speed semi-automated manual, a 2.0-litre turbo diesel with a six-speed manual in two different power outputs (90kW/112kW), while the flagship model is high-output diesel with a six-speed auto, with 135kW.

Citroen Australia general manager Kai Bruesewitz told us recently that Citroen will take on the commercial vehicle side of the business, leaving Peugeot to focus on passenger cars.
Bruesewitz indicated that the Dispatch range would be offered here in 2018. Stay tuned for more.
