2017 Skoda Kodiaq pricing and specs: Seven-seat SUV detailed for May launch
Local pricing and specifications for the new seven-seat 2017 Skoda Kodiaq have been released this week ahead of the Czech SUV’s arrival in late May, starting at $42,990 before on-road costs.
Initially available in one variant only, the Kodiaq will launch with the Volkswagen Group’s 132TSI 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine as standard, developing 132kW of power (as its name suggests) and 320Nm of torque.
Drive will be sent to all-four wheels as standard via a seven-speed dual clutch transmission, while fuel use is rated at a claimed 7.6L/100km on the combined cycle.

The 140kW 2.0-litre turbo-diesel motor seen in the Skoda Octavia RS and Volkswagen Tiguan will join the range “later in the year”.
Standard equipment includes safety features like front assist with city-speed autonomous emergency braking (AEB), passenger protect assist, driver fatigue monitor, tyre pressure monitor, fog lights with cornering function, electric child safety locks for the rear doors and multi-collision brake assistance.
The Kodiaq will also come equipped with adaptive cruise control, advanced keyless entry with smart start, adaptive LED headlights, dual-zone climate control, electric park brake with auto hold, an automatic tailgate with height-programmability, sliding second row seats, rear sun blinds, folding side mirrors, an integrated LED torch in the luggage compartment, a three-net luggage set, and two umbrellas – one each in the driver and front passenger doors.
An interesting inclusion is the door edge protector, which involves an extending protective bumper that helps prevent door damage in tight spaces.
Other features include an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation, bluetooth phone and audio streaming, eight-speaker audio system, AUX and USB inputs, two SD card slots, a CD and DVD player, Alcantara and leather seat upholstery, LED interior lighting, along with a three-spoke flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel.
Buyers will also be able to specify their Kodiaq with three option packs – Tech, Luxury and Launch – along with metallic/pearl paint ($700), a panoramic roof ($1900) and 19-inch ‘Triglav’ alloy wheels ($1650).
The Tech Pack ($2500) adds Adaptive Chassis Control with selectable driving modes, a 10-speaker Canton sound system, automatic parking assist, manoeuvre braking assist, a customisable vehicle set-up key, and an additional off-road driving mode – which Skoda describes as “a driving assistant for difficult conditions”.
Meanwhile, the Luxury Pack ($4900) brings features like electrically-adjustable front seats with memory, lane assist, blind spot assist, perforated leather upholstery in black or beige, ventilated front seats, surround parking camera system, three-zone climate control, traffic jam assist, emergency assist, rear cross traffic alert, and auto-dimming side mirrors with memory.
Finally, a limited-run Launch Pack will be available at launch for $5900, including all features of the Tech Pack, lane assist, blind spot assist, surround parking camera, traffic jam assist, emergency assist, rear cross traffic alert and auto-dimming side mirrors. Additionally, the Launch Pack adds the 19-inch ‘Triglav’ alloy wheels.
As revealed at its international unveiling in September last year, the Kodiaq will offer 720 litres of boot space with five of the seven seats in place, and 2065 litres with all rear seats folded down.
The Kodiaq is scheduled to make its Australian debut on May 31, and like all models in the company’s range, will be offered with a five-year, unlimited kilometre warranty with roadside assistance.
