2016 Range Rover Sport recalled for airbag fix
The 2016 model-year Range Rover Sport has been recalled this week over concerns the front passenger airbag won’t deploy in the event of a collision.
According to the British luxury off-roader marque, 15 affected vehicles could be fitted with inflators that may not function properly due to a deviation in the generant mix ratio – likely a manufacturing fault.
If the condition occurs, the front passenger airbag may not deploy when required, posing an increased risk of injury to a front seat passenger.
Range Rover Sport vehicles affected by this notice were built from 20 September 2016 through 25 October 2016. VIN ranges for these models are SALWG2PF4GA116357 to SALWA2VF6GA123797 and SALWA2KFXGA665022 to SALWA2KF2GA665418.
Owners of the recalled SUVs will be contacted by mail, and are advised to contact their local Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) dealer, who will replace the front passenger airbag.
